Helping our customers and communities recover after the recent hurricanes

At Synchrony, we care. It’s a hallmark of our culture. We are there for our customers, partners and the communities we serve — in good times … and in challenging times.

These past few weeks certainly qualify as challenging times. Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey, two of the nation’s worst natural disasters, left a path of widespread destruction in their wake.

Our thoughts continue to be with those affected by these recent hurricanes. When disasters of this magnitude strike, we are committed to doing everything we can to help our customers and communities recover.

Here’s how we’re helping our customers who’ve been impacted by these storms:

  • We are waiving certain fees and charges for individuals in areas heavily damaged by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey. For customers with more than one Synchrony card, we are waiving fees across all of their cards.
  • We are also working with customers to evaluate increases in credit limits on their cards to help with additional, necessary purchases.
  • Synchrony Bank is increasing ATM withdrawal limits for those impacted as well.

Our goal here is simple: To help our customers during their time of need. We have been in constant contact with our retail partners as well to do everything we can to support their customers’ needs.

In addition to our customer relief efforts, we are doing our part to help with on-the-ground recovery efforts.

Synchrony is donating more than $300,000 to hurricane relief through corporate grants and matching gifts. We are donating $275,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with on-the-ground disaster relief efforts in the affected areas. In addition, our employees have already donated more than $30,000 to hurricane relief efforts, which Synchrony will continue to match dollar for dollar.

And, we will continue to explore other volunteer opportunities for our employees to pitch in and help their local communities recover.

In times like these, people come together to help those in need. At Synchrony Financial, it’s our job not only to help our customers, partners and communities every day — but also when disasters like these strike.
